Present Continuous употребляется для выражения:
1. Действия, происходящего в настоящий момент времени. При этом часто употребляется наречие: now/сейчас.I am writing now. He is sleeping now. We are talking now.
2. Действия в будущем - преимущественно с глаголами движения:We are going to New York tomorrow.
Present Continuous образуется так:
Подлежащее Соответствующая форма to be в наст. врем. Смысловой глагол с окончанием -ing Все второстепенные члены предложения The boy is doing his homework.
I am doing my homework
You are doing your homework
He is doing his homework
She is doing her homework
It is a cat. It is sleeping now.
We are doing our homework
You are doing your homework
They are doing their homework
Общие вопросы образуются путем переноса формы глагола to be на 1 место:
I am writing a dictation now. - Are you writing a dictation?
He is working now, he is translating an English text. - Is he copying an English text? -No, he is translating it.
They are going to the park - Are they going to the party?- No, they are going to the park and I am going with them.Cпециальные вопросы образуются из общих путем добавления вопросительного слова (в начале предложения):
He is walking to his office.- Is he walking to his office? -Where is he walking?
We are going to the restaurant tonight. -Are we going to the restaurant tonight? -When are we going to the restaurant.Отрицательная форма образуется с помощью частицы NOT:
You are not (aren't) translating a German text now. He is not (isn't) going to Kiev tomorrow.
I am not sleeping now (I'm not sleeping now)
Следует заметить, что конструкция to be going to.. часто означает "собираться", "намереваться что-то сделать"
He is going to buy the book. - Он собирается купить эту книгу.
We are not going to wait any longer.-Мы не собираемся больше ждать.
I'm going to have a rest. - Я собираюсь отдохнуть.

I am going to school. He is translating a text from English into Russian. She is walking to the park. You are reading a book. We are working now, we are writing exercises. They are learning the grammar material.2.Answer the following questions:
What are you doing now? Where are you going? Are you working at your English now? What are you going to do? Are you waiting for your friend now? Are you going to London the next week? What are you learning now? Is your friend copying an English text? When is he going to do his homework? Is your teacher going to give you a test. Where are your parents going?3. Translate from Russian into English and answer the questions:
Вы сейчас работаете над вашим английским? Когда вы собираетесь перевести этот текст? Кто сейчас читает книгу? Я сейчас учу грамматику. Мой друг сейчас спит. Она идет на вечеринку, а завтра она собирается пойти в парк. Учитель собирается дать ученикам контрольную работу. Они не намерены ждать нас. Сейчас мы идем пешком в институт, но обычно ездим на трамвае.4. Read the following dialgue, translate it, learn it by heart:
A: You are getting thinner every minute.
B: I’m slimming.
A: I don’t think slimming is a good idea.
B: But it isn’t a very good idea to get heavy, is it?
A: Who is heavy?
B: Well, you are getting a bit thick round the middle.
