I plan to visit London a several times in current year and I have some questions about the procedure.

There is a tree beside your room, which brings some problem to your study and life. Write a letter to the authority to explain the problem and give them your suggestion. You do NOT need to write your own address.
You should spend no more than 20 minutes on this task and write at least 150 words.

Dear Sir/Madam!

I am writing to tell you about my problem and I hope to your assistance in my situation

I live in the 5-th avenue (my residential address is 25/5, 5-th avenue) on the second floor and a big pine tree is situated beside my house and it closes my working room s window fully and my mother s bedroom window partly. The shadow from the pine tree branches is so strong and there are no sun rays ever in these rooms all seasons.

I am studying at University, my future trade is a building engineer and my occupation is connected with a large number of drawings, catalogs and other special literature. I need a natural illumination but there is so dark in my working room I must to use the electrical lamps all the time. The humidity at my home is overage and I am sure it is the result of absence of the sun and undoubtedly such conditions is influenced the health of my family.

I am a hot supporter of green peace movement but our sufferings are so great that I need to ask your service to liquidate the pine tree. I could suggest to trim some branches but my neighbors from the top floor have the same problem. My family and I will be glad if you can use the pine tree as a Christmas tree in the nearest park.

I hope that your decision will be fast and positive for us and the new landscape near our house will include the bushes and flowers only.

I thank you for your attention and understanding in this matter.

Dear Sir/Madam!

I decided to write to you hoping that you can assist me in solving my problem.

There is a big pine tree beside my room, which closes the windows. The shadow from the pine tree branches is so thick that there is no sunlight in my room ever any season.

I am a student at the University, my future occupation is a building engineer. It includes preparing a lot of drawings, catalogs and consulting special literature. All this requires a natural illumination, but it is so dark in my study that I have to use the electrical lamps regularly. Also, as a result of the sunlight absence, the humidity in my house is higher than normal, which, undoubtedly, affects the good health of my family.

I do support the Green Peace movement, but our inconveniences are no longer a matter of tolerance, so I would ask your service to remove the pine tree. I could suggest that some branches should be trimmed, but my neighbors from the top floor have the same problem.

My family and I will be glad if you can use this pine tree as a Christmas tree in the nearest park.

I hope that your decision will be prompt and positive, so that the landscape near our house will consist of the bushes and flowers only.

Thank you for your attention and understanding of this matter.

Dear Sir/Madam!

I am writing to you to complain about my accommodation problem in London.

Two weeks ago in Moscow I received the letter from your agency which directed me to the dormitory which is situated in the Old London near the College where I take now the primary English course.

But when I arrived in London and found this dormitory with difficulties because it was already a midnight I found out that there was not a free room for me. Young Lady in reception service explained me that the letter was valid only before 12 p.m. Why did you not warn me about this condition?

I slept in the dormitory lobby and in the morning the manager suggested me to live in other dormitory, I agreed because I had not another choice.

The dormitory where I live now is very nice , it is a new comfortable building, but I have two important problems. Firstly, The dormitory is situated very far from the College and I need to use subway and bus daily and public transport in London is not so cheap . The second problem - the present dormitory is more expensive than I expected and I have not opportunity to pay more than I planned before my studying.

I ask you to resolve my problem as soon as possible and to keep all conditions of our agreement.

Sincerely, VL

What is wrong here:
1. Use of articles
2. Use of tenses
3. some words are misuses
Dear Sir/Madam!

The reason I am writing to you is the accommodation problem I faced in London.

I take a primary English course at a college in Old London. Two weeks before my departure from Moscow I received a letter from your agency informing that a room for me had been booked in the domitory situated in the vicinity of my college.

On my arrival in London it took me rather long to find the above mentioned dormitory and I got there at about midnight. I found out that there were no rooms available. Also, a young lady from the reception service explained that my letter was valid only till 12 p.m. I wonder why you have not warned me about this beforehand.

I spent the night in the dormitory lobby. In the morning the manager offered me another dormitory and I agreed as I had no other choice.

My present accommodation is very nice, located in a new comfortable building, but there are two major problems. First of all, the dormitory is situated very far from the college so I have to to travel by underground and by bus each day, and, as you know, the public transportation is not so cheap. The second problem is that the present dormitory is more expensive than I expected, and I don't have the opportunity to pay more than I had planned before my study has commenced.

I would ask you to solve my problem as soon as possible in order to meet all the terms of our agreement.

Sincerely yours,
VL

You have been accepted at Moreton College, a residential college at your new university. You are expected to arrive on 25 February to attend the college orientation session, but you will not be able to arrive by that date.
TASK:
Write to the Principal of the College explaining why you will be delayed, expressing your concern about missing the orientation session, and asking what you should do. You should write at least 150 words. You do NOT need to write your address. You should spend no more than 20 minutes on this task.

To the Principal of Moreton College

Dear Sir/Madam!

I am a new student at the College and I have the instruction to arrive on 25 February to attend the college orientation session. I regret to inform you that I will not be able to arrive by that date, because I have some objective actual reasons which were created before my acceptance at Moreton College.

I have a long-term agreement with my current employer which was signed two years ago. The agreement will stop to operate on 28, February. I have tried to discuss this problem with my boss, but his decision was hard and I can only leave my work on this date. In contrary I will not receive my last salary and bonus and missing it would be very important for my future student life.

According to these reasons I have not the opportunity to be in the orientation session and I need to warn you about this and if it is possible for you to inform me what my next action should be in this case. Can I receive the course list by e-mail and do I choose the courses which I prefer before my arriving at the College? Must I announce my choice by mail at the nearest time or can I do it personally after my landing?

I am ready to accept all of your conditions and suggestions because my intentions to study at the College are very serious.

Also I ask to reserve a room for me in the student dormitory. I ordered this room two week ago and I hope that it will be no change because of my absence at the first session days.

I thank you for your attention and understanding in this matter.

Regards,
VL

What is wrong here:
"objective actual reasons... were created", "aggreement ... stop to operate", "In contrary", "have not the opportunity", "it will be no change", etc. should be expressed better

The use of perfect tenses.
To the Principal of Moreton College

Dear Sir/Madam!

As a new student at your College I have the instruction to arrive on 25 February to attend the college orientation session.

I regret to inform you that I will not be able to arrive by that date due to personal circumstances that had originated before I was accepted at Moreton College.

I have a long-term agreement with my current employer signed two years ago. The agreement expires on 28 February. I tried to discuss this problem with my boss, but his decision was final, and I can leave my work no earlier than this date. Otherwise, I will not receive my last salary and bonus which are essential for my future expenses as a student.

Due to these reasons, I cannot attend the orientation session. I would kindly ask you to let me know what can be the possible solution of this problem and whether we can complete the necessary formalities via e-mail or fax, or it can wait till my arrival.

Also, I would ask to confirm the reservation of the room in the student dormitory. I placed a room booking order two weeks ago. I hope, my absence at the orientation session will not cause any change.

Thank you for your attention and undersatnding of this matter.

Regards,
VL
